Description

Rod lenses have the shape of a thin cylinder whose ends are spherical. These lenses are used to collimate a divergent beam or to focus the beam onto a line. The glass is polished into its rod shape and the spherical ends are ground. Due to their shape, rod lenses are easier to handle.
